If you avg. his HR/season from 1986-1998, he averages 31.61 HR/yr. in the seaons where he didn't take steroids according to this new book.
If you assume he manages that pace over his 20 year career, he would have hit 632 HR through 2005. That would have put him 28 HRs behind Willie Mays and fourth all time.
You have to assume that his SB's would have stayed on pace...or even been higher without the weight gain. If so, he'd still have be the only member of the 500-500 club in the history of MLB.
So, while his steroid use was clearly wrong, should that preclude him from the HOF given what his #'s most likely would have been?
